Fortress Villa Park?

Another game and another victory for Villa.
It's now the best start for nine years at Villa Park and three league wins in a row after an efficient win against Roy Keane's Sunderland.
Goals from Ashley Young and John Carew helped the Claret and Blue recover after an early strike from Djibril Cisse.
The result lifts Villa up to third in the table and confidence is high in the Midlands ahead of Thursday's UEFA Cup second leg against Litex.
The big target at the beginning of the season would have been to make Villa Park more of a fortress than it was throughout the last campaign.
Villa gained more points on the road than at home and it was the performances more than the results that disappointed fans.
Poor displays against Wigan and Sunderland hindered the challenge for an automatic UEFA Cup spot and even Leicester claimed a win in the Carling Cup.
After QPR won narrowly at Villa Park in midweek, it seemed that a familiar story could well repeat itself.

Cameo

Granted they won against Man City and drew with Liverpool but you couldn't help feeling that form may not continue.
Determined on their travels and devoid on their own territory, Villa once again appeared to favour away games.
But, after a disappointing start against Sunderland on Saturday they pulled it round, illustrating that their fine form is not exclusive to away fixtures.
Young's free kick proved too good for Black Cats keeper Craig Gordon and soon after, Carew neatly flicked in from six yards after good work by Stiliyan Petrov.
Sunderland had the lion's share of possession in the second half but couldn't find a breakthrough as Villa comfortably saw the game out.
James Milner made a fine cameo showing just why he has been signed and the picture is starting to come together.
Chelsea are the next test for the marauding Villans and that fixture will show just how close they are to the cream of the Premier League crop.
