A Cold War Clash

Last updated : 25 December 2007 By Tom Vickers

Who'd have thought in the heady days of the 'cold war' that we would have Russians and Americans owning 'top' English football clubs. This is the case today with Roman Abramovich and Randy Lerner owning Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.

So the battle of the 'Super Powers' will take place at Stamford Bridge with the Russian owned Blues holding all of the 'big guns', but with the American owned Villans having a genuine psychological advantage over their opponents.

The Villans victory at Villa Park this season was indeed emphatic and a weakened Chelsea team will be looking to 'launch a few missiles' at the Claret and Blue goal.

So let us hope that the Villa's early tracking system is fully operational and our strategic plans are well plotted and carried out.

MON our Commandering Chief will want a tight rear guard action from his troops and will not expect to surrender any territorial ground to the Blues.

Let's hope that this confrontation at least ends in stalemate and the Claret and Blues can escape from Stamford Bridge with a minimal war wounds and at least a point in the bag.

So let the battle commence!

Come on you Villa Boys!!!!!
