The Red Devils - 50 Years of FA Cup Hell

Last updated : 05 January 2008 By Tom Vickers

Not since the 1957 cup final have the Villan beaten the Red Devils in the the FA cup. In the final 50 years ago Aston Villa won 2-1 under fairly controversial circumstances. The hero/villain that day was Peter McParland who felled the United goal keeper and scored the two Villa goals.

So Villa must be due for a win!! We have met the Red Devils too many times in the FA cup over recent times!! We came close to getting something last year but as usual it ended in disappointment for the Villans. We must overcome this Red Devil hoodoo!!

The team is on a good run. Manchester United can be beaten!! We just need to play against United in a similar manner to the way we play against Chelsea. We need to boss them for a change. All too often we totally capitulate to the likes of Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney. Today could be different!! This team has a belief and is a team not a group of individuals. MON has them working for each other.

Let's get hold of the Red Devil's fork and stick it up their backsides!! Let us battle through the flames of hell for a glorious victory. Win today and there is a strong possibility of us going all the way to Wembley. What a prize that would be!!

It is rumoured that the new England manager Fabio Capello will be at the match today. What an opportunity for Gareth Barry, Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Scott Carson and Nigel Reo-Coker to make their claims on this stage today.

Manchester United love playing at Vila Park, they always win!! Hopefully, we can change this today. It is not beyond the realms of impossibility for us to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup today. Let's roar the boys on to a well deserved and long awaited victory against those Red Devils!!!

Come on you Villa boys!!!
