Pep Guardiola's side opened the scoring inside the opening minutes thanks to a stunning solo goal from Riyad Mahrez before the Algerian doubled City's lead after some sloppy defensive play from the hosts.
Agüero made it three with a fantastic long-range strike to move level with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on the Premier League's all-time goalscoring charts, while Gabriel Jesus added a fourth just before the half-time whistle.
Agüero scored his second of the match at the start of the second half and he completed his hat-trick with just ten minutes left on the clock - setting a new Premier League record with his 12th hat-trick in the top flight.

Villa hardly broke into Manchester City's final third throughout the game, but makeshift forwards
The hosts tried to offset their lack of impact in the final third by switching to a back three, but Dean Smith's side still showed the same defensively fragility that has crippled them over the last few weeks.

Grealish showed the odd moment of quality, but really it would be a massive disservice to Aston Villa fans to even suggest that any single one of their players deserved their wages this weekend.

Key Talking Point
Manchester City were outstanding. Aston Villa were awful. Not too much else we have to discuss here, is there?
To City's tremendous credit, the visitors still had to show they could finish off the chances they were being gift wrapped by Villa, and Guardiola's side put in an attacking performance reminiscent of their best form last season.
The title race is done and dusted, but City do still have the perfect platform to build on for next season.

Villa looked like they'd gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson after Mahrez single-handedly won the match for City inside the opening 25 minutes, and the Algerian continued to torment the hosts throughout the rest of the match.
Looking Ahead
City will look to get their third win in a row when they host Crystal Palace next week, while Villa will try to climb out of the relegation zone when they travel to Brighton.
