Barry staying put

Barry, who is playing his best football for Villa since breaking into the England team three years ago, is understood to be a target for Rovers boss Graeme Souness.

But the 22-year-old says he has no intention of quitting Villa Park: "Of course it is flattering when managers take an interest in you, especially a club like Blackburn.

"But I am happy here, I am playing good football for Villa and I want to carry on doing that."

"I had a difficult time when I was out of the side last year and things were not going well for me.

"But under the manager all of that has changed and I owe him a great deal. He has really helped my career. He has turned everything around for me here and I am enjoying myself again. It is nice when there are reports that any other manager rates you as a player.

"But that's all it amounts to because I am thinking only about playing for this club. Right now everything is moving in the right direction for us."
