Jack Grealish could leave Aston Villa after Euro 2020 as the player’s representatives think they have permission to arrange a transfer, potentially worth £100m to make the 25-year-old the most expensive English player in history.
Grealish has long been of interest to the Premier League’s top sides and Manchester City have emerged as the club most likely to make an offer as Pep Guardiola looks to revamp his title winning squad after it became apparent a number of players are dissatisfied with their role.
Grealish is one of the most creative and dynamic players in the Premier League and many England fans have clamoured for him to start games at Euro 2020, getting their wish in the final group game against Czech Republic earlier this week.
The Athletic writes that Villa, despite having already completed a deal for Emi Buendia and are searching for another attacking player, want to keep Grealish. The club is even said to have told prospective targets that the talisman would still be at Villa Park this coming season.
Even though Manchester City’s interest in described as ‘growing’, that implies a confidence, whether justified or misplaced, that they will be able to keep him and strengthen themselves.
However, The Sun claims that Grealish’s representatives believe they have already secured an agreement with the club that he will be sold if the right offer comes in.
It is suggested that the player’s camp are satisfied that talks with Villa officials in recent weeks have yielded a situation whereby they will be able to work on a transfer once Euro 2020 is over. City have delayed making any offer while the tournament has been ongoing but that is expected to change in July once the focus is back on club football and preparing for the 2021/22 campaign.
