Jack Grealish to Be Given Chance to Shine for England Prior to Euro 2020

England head coach Gareth Southgate is expected to offer Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish a chance to shine in the upcoming Euro, due to his impressive performances in the Premier League this campaign.

The England boss was present during Aston Villa’s previous two matches against Leicester and Manchester City, keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old.

Despite Aston Villa currently sitting in the relegation zone, with the club recently suffering an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Man City, Grealish continues to be the main spark within the side.

According to the Guardian, Southgate is prepared to involve the winger in the spring friendlies against Italy and Denmark to secure his first cap at senior international level, having recently missed out against Montenegro and Kosovo.

Grealish has scored six league goals and provided five assists this campaign for Villa, making him a prime candidate to make the England Euro 2020 squad. Meanwhile, Southampton striker Danny Ings could also be in for a chance for Euro 2020, following his recent goalscoring run for the Saints this season.

The 27-year-old has managed 14 league goals already this campaign, also catching the eye of the England manager.

With Harry Kane recently picking up a hamstring injury and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho claiming that the striker could be out for the remainder of the season, Southgate will have to turn to other options up front.

Danny Ings

Although Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham are first in line to replace the Spurs forward, Callum Wilson has failed to make much of an impact this campaign – presenting the perfect opportunity for Ings to prove his worth within the England squad.

Southgate will also be hoping that Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be back in time for the tournament, after rupturing his Achilles tendon at the end of last season.

England are set to take on Italy and Denmark during their next friendlies in late March, with group stages of the competition starting in June.
