Taylor praise for Allback

Last updated : 10 November 2002 By VillaMAD

Allback has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Villa side since his move from Heerenveen, but Taylor said: "We found ourselves with six strikers and Marcus has found himself a little bit on the outside waiting his turn.

"I am sure he has been frustrated with it but he has been excellent with his attitude.

"There have been a couple of occasions when he was not even in the 16, but he was still in the dressing room encouraging people straight after the game - win, lose or draw.

"We are trying to establish a group of players who support one another and he has been excellent.

"He has come here from the World Cup into a new life and culture and sometimes in England we are poor at recognising how people have to settle into a new country.

"But he has been first-class in training and with his approach and he got some just rewards today.

"It was very important that we won this game otherwise we would have been adrift of the middle of the table.

"It was a hard game for us because Fulham have individuals who can pick you off at times, but we kept going and got the result we needed."
