Both Villa and Blues have been charged with failure to control their players following a mass confrontation following Joey Gudjonsson's 80th minute dismissal in the local derby at Villa Park on the 3rd March.
Additionally, striker Dion Dublin faces a double charge of improper conduct relating to firstly, head-butting Robbie Savage, and secondly for comments made towards the TV camera while leaving the pitch.
Both club and player have 14 days in which to appeal the charges.
