Why Man Utd vs Aston Villa & Chelsea vs Man City kick off at the same time

Saturday's Premier League schedule offers up a unique twist as we will have two matches in the lunchtime kick off slot.

Chelsea's blockbuster tie with Manchester City was originally billed to kick off at 12.30pm (BST) and will be broadcast on BT Sport as usual, but there's actually a second game which will now kick off at the same time.

Just as the fun gets underway at Stamford Bridge, Manchester United's meeting with Aston Villa will also kick off. That fixture had been scheduled to start at 3pm but has been brought forward, leaving many fans scratching their heads as to why.

Well, as it turns out, United were actually asked to move the game because there is a concert going on at Old Trafford Cricket Ground on the same day.

Why has Man Utd vs Aston Villa been moved?

"Our home match against Aston Villa on 25 September has been brought forward to a 12:30 BST kick off, following a request from Trafford Council Safety Advisory Group to move the game due to The Courteeners concert at Lancashire Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, on the same day," a United statement read.

"This request was supported by Greater Manchester Police and TfGM to avoid significant crowd, traffic and operational issues locally.

"We regret any disruption that this may cause around our supporters' plans for the day."

Where to watch Man Utd vs Aston Villa on TV/live stream?

BT Sport have the 12.30pm slot in the UK but that has already been reserved for Chelsea vs Man City, meaning the United game will not actually be broadcast live in the UK, despite appearing to be in a TV slot.

In the US, fans can keep up with all the action on fuboTV, but UK-based supporters will have to settle for following commentary on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday.
